Aviation is our language.
The classes are aimed specifically for those involved in the aviation industry who need to improve their efficiency in English. This would include PILOTS, ATC, flight attendants and other ground staff.
The Language Proficiency Test involves 6 areas of language that need to be assessed. The following six dimensions as prescribed by ICAO Annex 1 are listed as:
The classes’ focus is on these 6 language areas preparing the student to attain at least an operational level of fluency.
An evaluation test is available that allows the student to gauge where they fit in on the scale and which specific areas need to be focused on in preparation of the actual English Language Proficiency Test.
The emphasis therefore is to attain fluency in speech and accuracy in pronunciation. Students can be prepared for an interactive environment.
The aim of the classes is to prepare PILOTS, ATC and AIRCREW for the English Proficiency Test as outlined and stipulated by ICAO document 9835.
Wings understands that pilots have busy and often erratic schedules. The classes are therefore set up in a manner that allows pilots to come in anytime and carry on from the previous class.
Material is sourced from respected aviation English writers. A lot of material is produced and provided by Wings English to meet the specific needs of students. We use the Macmillan course series as well as individually designed material.
